STEP – 1 VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION (Required for ALL Volunteers)

If you would like to Volunteer at West Tampa Little League as a Manager, Coach, Dugout Parent, Team Parent or any other type of Volunteer you will need to set up an account and register with Blue Sombrero. Once you complete the online registration please proceed to Step 2.

STEP – 2 VOLUNTEER APPLICATION (Required for ALL Volunteers)

Complete the 2020 Little League Volunteer Application with FULL NAME (First, Middle, and Last Name) and Social Security Number (needed to run background check)
Copy of your driver’s license

2020 Volunteer Application

Submissions: All completed applications must be emailed to wtllplayersagent@gmail.com for approval. Upon receipt of your application and driver’s license, West Tampa Little League will conduct a full background check.

For Coaching Volunteers: please move to “Step 3” to complete the certification process.

For Non-coaching Volunteers: your certification process will be complete upon approval of your background check.

STEP – 3 COACHING CERTIFICATION (Managers / Coaches / Dugout Volunteers Only)

All managers / coaches / dugout volunteers must either (1) attend a Hillsborough County Coaching Clinic or (2) complete an online NYSCA certification course.

Hillsborough County Coaching Clinic:

Upon approval of your background check, you will be eligible to attend a Hillsborough County Coaching Clinic. Hillsborough County requires all youth sports coaches (managers, coaches, dugout volunteers) to complete a “Coaches Certification Class” and possess a valid certification card at all times when coaching at county facilities.

If you do not already possess a valid “Coaches Certification Card”: download the Hillsborough County Coaches Training Schedule to find an available county coaching class date and time. You must register prior to attending.

Term: certification is valid for 2 years from date of completion
Time To Complete: about 2 hours

NYSCA Certification:

A NYSCA Certification can be substituted for the Hillsborough County Coach’s Certification. Visit http://www.nays.org/coaches/ for more information on NYSCA Certification.

Cost: $25 for 1 year term (discounts apply for multi-year certifications)
Term: varies – selection made by volunteer
Time To Complete: about 2 hours

STEP – 4 CPR, FIRST AID, AND AED CERTIFICATION (Managers / Coaches / Dugout Volunteers Only

Hillsborough County mandates that all managers, coaches, and dugout volunteers must be trained in both CPR, First Aid, and AED.

HCPR CPR / First Aid Classes Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation (HCPR) department offers free CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification classes. Visit the Hillsborough County Coaches Training Schedule to find an available county coaching class date and time

Time to complete: about 2 hours

STEP – 5 CONCUSSION AWARENESS CERTIFICATION (Managers / Coaches / Dugout Volunteers Only)

Hillsborough County mandates that all coaches and managers must be trained in “Concussion and Head Injury” awareness. There is a free, online course to get certified. If you registered last year use this link to login: http://www.nays.org/additional-training/login.cfm
If not you’ll have to register using the link here: https://www.nays.org/resources/more/free-concussion-training/ The course certification certificate, which can be printed at the completion of the course must be turned in to West Tampa’s Players Agent before you will be allowed to manage or coach a team.

ID Badge – All APPROVED Managers, Coaches, and Dugout Volunteers will receive an ID badge. All volunteers must wear their ID Badge at all times while engaged in West Tampa Little League team activities per Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation.
