WTLL Families –

We are writing to make you aware of new Baseball Bat (no changes to softball bats) standards for 2018. The new standard which impacts T-ball, Minors, Majors, Intermediate, and Junior divisions is called USA Baseball Bat Standard. Almost all baseball bats currently legal for play in Little League will no longer be allowed for use Jan 1, 2018. Starting January 1, 2018 all bats legal for play in Little League must be manufactured/stamped under this USA Baseball Bat Standard**. These bats are now for sale in the marketplace, and we want you to plan your next baseball bat purchase carefully. Please see below for an example of the USA Baseball Bat stamp to look for when researching and purchasing the new bats.

USA Baseball Bat Stamp Example (look for this stamp on bats to use in 2018):

Here is a summary description of the changes from 2017 to Jan 1, 2018. As you can see, there are changes to both the bat sizes allowed (minors and majors can now use up up 2 5/8” barrel), as well as what is allowed in specific divisions (i.e. BBCOR no longer allowed in Intermediate or Junior division).

Minor Division includes Coach Pitch, Minor B, and Minor A.

**T-ball bats manufactured prior to the new standard can be used via the “USA Baseball Tee Ball Sticker Program”. These stickers will be available from WTLL during strength and conditioning periods for the spring season. Dates for spring training and concession registration will be coming soon.
